POTENTIAL FOR INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT
IN THE REPUBLIC OF BURYATIA

The article assesses the development potential of industrial production in the Republic of Buryatia. Its specialization is determined by identifying leading types of economic activity based on the calculation of localization coefficients and their intensity. The structural components of industrial potential are identified, including material and technical, innovation and investment, financial, labor, and infrastructural potentials, and the main indicators characterizing them are substantiated. The analysis reveals uneven development of all components of the region’s industrial potential. The main problems hindering the development of the region’s industry are highlighted: the need to update and expand the material and technical base, a decline in the level of innovation activity in the industrial sector, and a reduction in organizations and the number of employees engaged in scientific research and development. The article concludes that it is necessary to form a balanced regional industrial policy that takes into account modern economic conditions and state support mechanisms, providing an impetus for the targeted development of strategically important industries in the region.

The article assesses the development potential of industrial production in the Republic of Buryatia. Its specialization with the allocation of leading types of economic activity on the basis of calculation of localization and localization intensity coefficients is determined. Identified the structural components of industrial potential, including material and technical, innovation and investment, financial, labor, and infrastructural potentials and substantiated the main indicators characterizing them. The analysis revealed uneven development of all components of the region’s industrial potential. The main problems restraining the development of the region’s industry are emphasized: the need to renew and expand the material and technical base, the decline in the level of innovation activity of the industrial sector, the reduction of organizations and the number of employees performing scientific research and development. The article concludes that it is necessary to form a balanced regional industrial policy that takes into account the current economic conditions and mechanisms of state support, creating an impetus for the purposeful development of strategically important industries in the region.
