Rules for Authors

Publication Rules

1.1. Articles are published as they are received and prepared.

1.2. The authors of the articles and the editorial board are responsible for the content of the articles and for the fact of their publication.

1.3. No honorarium is paid to the authors.

1.4. For an article to be accepted for publication, it must undergo a peer review procedure. Articles accepted for publication undergo editing, which includes pre-print preparation for placement in the next issue of the journal. Reviews are kept in the editorial office of the series for five years and are provided upon request from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The editorial office provides authors with copies of reviews without the signature and indication of the surname, position, or place of work of the reviewer. Proofs are not sent to authors, and all further verification is carried out by the editorial office based on the author’s original.

1.5. Returning the manuscript for revision does not mean that the article is accepted for publication. After receiving the revised text, the manuscript is re-examined by the editorial board or reviewers, depending on the volume of comments made by the reviewers.

1.6. Articles rejected by the editorial board are not reconsidered.

1.7. The editorial board of the scientific journal «Eastern Azimuth: Economics, Sociology, Ethnology» is guided in its work by international ethical rules for scientific publications, including integrity, confidentiality, oversight of publications, consideration of possible conflicts of interest, etc.

Rules for Submitting and Preparing Manuscripts of Articles

2.1. The author prepares the text of the scientific article manuscript in strict accordance with the requirements set forth in clause 2.3. (see below) and submits it to the journal’s editorial office in electronic form. Articles in Russian or English are accepted.

2.2. An article submitted for publication must be original, not previously published, and not submitted for consideration elsewhere (according to the verification in the «Anti-Plagiarism» system, originality must be at least 75%, excluding self-citation). If any copyrighted images are used, permission for their use must also be attached to the article text.

2.3. The manuscript of an author’s article should have a volume of 0.5–1.5 printer’s sheets. The volume of other materials is 0.1–0.5 printer’s sheets.

Basic formatting (design) parameters of pages:

– Margins: top, bottom – 2 cm, left – 3 cm, right – 1.5 cm;

– Font size for the entire article – Times New Roman 12 pt;

– Font size in tables and figures – 11 pt;

– Line spacing – 1.5 (one and a half);

– Paragraph indent – 1.25 cm;

– Spacing between paragraphs – 0 pt (do not increase spacing or leave blank lines between paragraphs);

– Justified alignment;

– Pages are numbered;

– Special formatting and hyphenation in the text are not allowed;

– Underlining is not used in the text. Italics (preferred) or bold font are used for emphasis;

– Numbered lists are created automatically using Word tools (not placed manually).

– References to semantic notes are given in footnotes. Font size – 10 pt, line spacing – 1.0.

The article text must include:

– UDC index in Russian;

– Title of the article in Russian;

– Abstract in Russian (recommended volume 100–200 words). The abstract should be clearly structured and formatted without paragraphs, as a single block;

– Keywords (5–7 words) in Russian.

For each author, the following are indicated:

– Surname, first name, patronymic in Russian;

– Affiliation of the author(s) in Russian;

– Academic degree, academic title, position;

– Name of the organization, location of the organization (city, country);

– ORCID (unique researcher identifier), e-mail;

– Acknowledgments in Russian, including indication of project funding (if any); funding information (if any). The information is formatted as a reference to the article title.

English-language block:

– Title of the article in English;

– Abstract in English;

– Keywords in English;

For each author, the following are indicated:

– Surname, first name, patronymic in English;

– Affiliation of the author(s) in English;

– Academic degree, academic title, position in English;

– Name of the organization, address of the organization in English;

– ORCID (unique researcher identifier), e-mail.

The article text should be divided into meaningful parts and contain a problem statement, a description of the methodology and methods (if these are the results of an empirical study), the main results, and conclusions.

At the end of the manuscript, a list of sources and literature is placed. The list is formatted in accordance with GOST 7.0.100-2018 «Bibliographic Record. Bibliographic Description. General Requirements and Rules for Compilation» and is arranged in alphabetical order. References to cited sources in the text of the article are given in square brackets, indicating the author’s surname and the year of publication of the source (for example: [Ivanov 2024]). If a cited quotation enclosed in quotation marks is used in the text, the page on which this quotation is located in the cited source must be indicated (for example: [Ivanov 2024: 107]). In bibliographic descriptions of books, the publisher and the total number of pages must be indicated.

In the list of sources and literature, literature in Russian is listed first, followed by literature in foreign languages, and separately the transliteration of the literature list according to GOST 7.79-2000 (System B).

The author is obliged to provide references to all types of published and unpublished documents. Bibliographic descriptions in the reference list are compiled in the language of the publication.

Hyphenation is automatic (service, language, hyphenation settings). Do not use forced (manual) hyphens.

Tables should be made in table mode (insert table), not drawn by hand. The word «Table» should be placed in the upper right corner. The table title should be centered.

If the table is large, it must be placed on a separate page or separate pages, indicating «Continuation of Table 1» or, accordingly, «End of Table 1» (in the upper right corner).

Each table is placed after a reference to it (for example: Table 1) and must have a numbering and thematic heading. The width of the table should not exceed the text column width. Do not include a separate «Units of measurement» column.

References to tables in the text are mandatory. If the article has one table, it is not numbered. Tables should not break a sentence; they should be placed after a paragraph. When referring to a table again, write: (see Table 1). If a sentence begins with the word «table,» this word is written in full; if the specified word is in the middle or at the end of a sentence, it is written in abbreviated form: (Table 1).

Below the table, it is necessary to indicate the source on which this table is based (for example: comp. by: [GARB, f. 1, d. 2, op. 3, l. 4]; or: [Regions of Russia … 2024]).

At the end of the article, provide the following information about dates: The article was received by the editorial office ……; approved after review ……; accepted for publication …….

The author is fully responsible for the content and style of the work. The editorial board reserves the right not to consider works formatted with deviations from the above rules.

Submission of the article by the author(s) to the journal’s editorial office implies agreement with the stated rules, consent to the placement of the full version of the article on the network and on the official website of the Scientific Electronic Library in open access, as well as the use of personal data in open print.
