STORM IN THE WORLDVIEW AND RITUAL PRACTICES OF THE TURKIC AND MONGOLIC PEOPLES OF INNER ASIA

The territory of Inner Asia is an area where storm phenomena are recorded most frequently. They have become an important part of the daily life of its population, giving rise to a vast number of ideas, beliefs, and prohibitions, and forming the basis of rituals that protect against lightning.
The aim of the article is to identify the mythical images through which the traditional ideas and interpretations of the Turkic and Mongolic peoples of Inner Asia are realized, the features of the development of these views, and to determine the influence and significance of storm phenomena in the life of nomads.
The work is based on a comprehensive, systemic-historical approach to the study of the past. The research methodology is based on historical and ethnographic methods. The main sources of the study were materials on the mythology and folklore of the Turkic and Mongolic peoples, reflecting the nomads’ ideas about storm phenomena.
Mythical images embodying storm phenomena in the culture of the Turkic and Mongolic population of Inner Asia have been identified, and the significance of these phenomena in the everyday and religious life of the population has been determined.
