SPATIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MUNICIPAL
DISTRICTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF BURYATIA

The article is devoted to the analysis of spatial characteristics of municipal districts of the Republic of Buryatia. The low information content of population density and density of the network of settlements is noted. An additional spatial characteristic is proposed, reflecting the accessibility of regional centers. Based on data on the population of 631 settlements and the graph of the road network of the republic, an assessment of the accessibility of district centers was made in the form of weighted average distances between settlements and their administrative centers. For most municipal districts, the estimates obtained closely correlate with indicators of population density and density of the network of settlements. The North Baikal, Bauntovsky, Muisky, Okinsky and Kyakhtinsky districts deviate significantly from this trend.
